Anebo chceš prohlásit vinným spravedlivého a mocného? 18Cožpak se sluší králi říkat: Ničemníku a šlechticům: Ničemo? 19Tomu, který nenadržuje knížatům ani nestraní urozenému před chudým, neboť oni jsou všichni dílem jeho rukou? 20V okamžiku i o půlnoci umírají, lidé jsou rozechvěni a pomíjejí. Vznešený je odstraněn bez zásahu lidské ruky. 21Neboť jeho oči hledí na cesty člověka, on uvidí všechny jeho kroky. 22Není taková temnota, ani nejhlubší tma nestačí, aby se tam pachatelé nepravosti mohli skrýt. 23Neboť nikomu není uloženo více, než aby šel na soud před Boha. 24Bez vyšetřování drtí mocné, namísto nich ustanovil jiné. 25Jistě zná jejich počiny, vyvrátí je v noci a budou potřeni. 26Jako ničemy je bije na místě, kde to všichni vidí, 27protože se od něj odvrátili a žádné z jeho cest nerozuměli, 28takže k němu nechali přijít volání chudého, uslyší volání nuzného. 29Zůstane-li on klidný, kdo jej prohlásí vinným? Když skryje tvář, kdo jej zpozoruje? Přitom bdí zároveň nad národem i nad jednotlivým člověkem, 30aby se bezbožný člověk nestal králem, aby nebyl lidu léčkou. 31Vždyť řekl snad někdo Bohu: Odnesl jsem si to, nebudu už jednat zle? 32Co sám nevidím, tomu ty mě uč. Jestliže jsem provedl špatnost, nebudu v tom pokračovat? 33Má snad za to odplatit podle tvého? Vždyť jsi ho zavrhl, protože ty si můžeš vybrat a já ne. Jen pověz, co víš. 34Řeknou mi to rozumní muži i moudrý člověk, který mě poslouchá: 35Jób nemluví na základě poznání, jeho slova nepřicházejí z porozumění. 36Kéž je Jób jednou provždy přezkoušen za odpovědi po způsobu mužů propadlých nepravosti. 37Neboť ke svému hříchu přidává vzpouru, tleská mezi námi.
